The Relationship Between Skincare and Diet

The epidermis is one of the largest organs in your body. The skin is an organ of the body just like our liver, kidneys or Heart . Most people consider the skin as simply a cover for|the body and do not tend to associate it with the rest of the the organs of the body. As with all of the other bodily organs, the skin has a variety of highly specialized functions to fulfill. Whilst there may be ailments in which the skin is specifically involved, it has a role in many kinds of conditions. The skin may have to show stress from of other ill-functioning bodily organs when the system is under duress.

The Structure of the Skin

As stated previously the skin is one of the most significant organs of the body. On average, a woman has approximately 15 square feet of skin. The skin consists of a couple of distinct layers. The outer layer is known as the epidermis and while the layer the epidermis is known as the dermis. The outer layer (epidermis) is the really protective layer and is thicker in parts where extra protection is most needed, for instance on the soles of the feet.
The under layer (dermis) is also designed to give protection, as well as, provide various other functions. In the dermis you will fine the the nerves, blood along with lymph vessels, together with the sweat and sebaceous glands as well as other specialized cells. Our skin, being one of the most important organs of the human body, depends on our internal system functioning properly for it’s health.

Your Skin and Your Diet

Since the skin covers the body we do not relate it directly to the digestive process. However, in an attempt to understand the true function of our skin we must recognize the fact that it can be signicifcantly impacted by nutritional choices. The body of evidence suggest that skin condition is directly impacted by the dietary habits of each individual. Therefore , the visible state of the epidermis can be affected more quickly via poor dietary than any other medium.

The habit of eating too much, especially of with high sugar content will adversly affect the skin considerably more dramatically and quickly than people would imagine. Alternatively, ‘under eating’ certain kinds of food, can lead to vitamins and minerals deficiencies that can also lead to skin problems. For healthy skin it’s imparative we eat a balanced diet with the right mixutre of fruits, vegtables, grains, proteins and dairy products.
